Joanna Ferrell is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Clarksville, TN native. She graduated with high distinctions from Hopkinsville Community College in 2007 with her AAS and Nursing Assistant certification. She went to Austin Peay State University for her RN-BSN and graduated cum laude in 2009. Joanna spent the first two years of her nursing career at Tennova Healthcare Emergency Department. She was always interested in skincare and health due to a family history of melanoma, leading her to Nashville Skin as an RN at the Clarksville office in 2011. Joanna is a member of the Dermatology Nurses’ Association and became a certified Dermatology Nurse in 2014 and continued working for Nashville Skin through 2017.

Joanna went on to further her nursing education and completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing, with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner, in 2017 from the University of South Alabama. She is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners to see patients across their lifespan. She spent four years in Clarksville practicing Internal Medicine and Palliative/Hospice Medicine, then two years practicing Medical Dermatology in rural areas of middle TN.

Joanna can perform skin cancer screenings and treat many common dermatological concerns. She is skilled in performing procedures, including shave biopsies, punch biopsies, cryosurgery, and minor excision. Joanna is also a Society of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners and Middle Tennessee Advanced Practice Nurses member. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys reading, family time, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their beloved dog.
